Area Director (Multiple Positions)

As an Area Director, this individual will be responsible for managing the District Office and its staff members. Responsibilities would also include meeting with community stakeholders, representing the Councilmember at meetings, organizing events, and staffing the Councilmember at community events. Qualified applicants should have a deep understanding of the different parts of the district, its stakeholders, and issues important to the community. Individuals should also have an understanding of City of Los Angeles government and constituent services.

The 14th District consists of over 250,000 residents and stretches from Eagle Rock in the north to Downtown Los Angeles in the south. It covers the neighborhoods of Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glassell Park, Hermon, Monterey Hills, El Sereno, Boyle Heights, and Downtown Los Angeles.

Duties

  • Oversee district office staff and operations
  • Survey and report on the progress of public projects within the district
  • Communicate directly with city departments
  • Represent the Councilmember at community meetings and events
  • Communicate the Councilmember’s vision and goals to stakeholders
  • Comprehend detailed community issues
  • Staff the Councilmember at events
  • Organize and plan community events

Qualifications

  • A strong knowledge and understanding of CD14 and its stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work outside of normal business hours, especially nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of the government of the City of Los Angeles and constituent services
  • Your own reliable transportation

Salary is commensurate on experience. The City of Los Angeles provides generous benefits and retirement plans for its employees.
