Constituent Advocate (Multiple Positions Throughout the District)

As a Constituent Advocate, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day interactions with constituents and addressing their issues. Qualified applicants should be creative problem solvers who are able to work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Individuals should also have an understanding of City of Los Angeles government and constituent services.

The 14th District consists of over 250,000 residents and stretches from Eagle Rock in the north to Downtown Los Angeles in the south. It covers the neighborhoods of Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glassell Park, Hermon, Monterey Hills, El Sereno, Boyle Heights, and Downtown Los Angeles.

As a public servant in a Councilmember’s office, you are an extension of the representative elected by the people of CD 14; therefore you will be held to the highest possible ethical standards both on and off the clock.

Duties

  • Manage CD14 field office operations including office opening/closing, mail, and community room usage
  • Listen to constituents’ issues and concerns and work to identify solutions
  • Communicate regularly with city department staff to respond to constituent requests such as trash pickup, pothole filling, and graffiti removal
  • Document and track all constituent interactions in the City’s Constituent Management software

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the government of the City of Los Angeles and constituent services
  • Superb organizational and filing skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Salary is commensurate on experience. The City of Los Angeles provides generous benefits and retirement plans for its employees.
