The Executive Assistant/Scheduler works in partnership with the Executive Team on behalf of the City Councilmember. This position will manage a complex and detailed calendar for all Councilmember driven activities including events, meetings, travel, conferences, etc. Will also be responsible for managing all internal and external scheduled meetings and events as well as providing administrative support by preparing essential materials, briefs, talking points, setting up phone calls and presentations.

A successful candidate must be able to exercise discretion, good judgement, and significant initiative. In addition, this position requires being on call outside of regular business hours.

The 14th District consists of over 250,000 residents and stretches from Eagle Rock in the north to Downtown Los Angeles in the south. It covers the neighborhoods of Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glassell Park, Hermon, Monterey Hills, El Sereno, Boyle Heights, and Downtown Los Angeles.

As a public servant in a Councilmember’s office, you are an extension of the representative elected by the people of CD 14; therefore you will be held to the highest possible ethical standards both on and off the clock.


  • Schedule meetings, telephone conferences, events and appointments for the Councilmember
  • Draft and review general correspondence, memos, emails, reports, etc. ensuring accuracy and clarity of all materials released by the Councilmember and Executive Office;
  • Foster strong working relationships with staff at all levels of the department, across the City, and with outside entities;
  • Manage and review filing and office systems (physical and electronic);
  • Organize travel and prepare complex travel itineraries for the Councilmember and Executive Team;


  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent time-management, analytical and organizational skills; capable of working efficiently with all levels of staff and the public;
  • Energetic, self-motivated, flexible & adaptable, able to think “outside the box”, able to multitask and work independently;
  • A team player with an attitude of service;
  • Fluency in MS Office Professional, web applications, and knowledgeable about technology and electronic communication.
  • 3-5 years of experience desired
